Q:
Hello,
I am after a .90 or more G colour stone and my budget is Au $6500. I just wanted to see what your thoughts are on these stones:

Hi Debbie,
I recommend the .91ct G VS2 for $4,890.00: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/R91-FF4MHW
Cut is ideal, and VS2 grade making inclusion is a feather followed by a crystal. From the magnified image, the diamond appears to be eye-clean.
The other diamonds:
.90ct G SI1: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/R90-T1BTCQ has a huge feather visible from the crown view; not eye-clean.
.90ct E SI1: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/R90-74PYNE, is not eye-clean.
.90ct G VS2: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/R90-TVDAPY has a grade making inclusion of a large feather near the girdle.
Overall, I prefer the .91ct G VS2 for you. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thanks,
Liz
Q:
Hello Liz,
Thank you for your reply, the stone you suggest also has cloud and indented natural. What is this? Do I need to worry about this?
Thank you,
Debbie
A:
Hi Debbie,
A very tiny crystal is called a pinpoint and these can only be seen with magnification. When a cluster of these pinpoints appear close together, they are called a ‘cloud’. Small clouds in diamonds are not a cause for worry and do not affect overall transparency or ability to reflect light. However, excessively large clouds that take over more than 2/3rd of the diamond can appear hazy or blurry. An example of a diamond with excessive clouds can be seen in the image below:
In this example, you can clearly see the SI2 diamond on the left has visible inclusions but still has dark contrast and transparency as expected. The diamond on the right, however, appears obviously hazy and is graded an I1. This milky quality is the result of excessive clouds (lots and lots of microscopic pinpoints/crystals) that are impairing how the diamond reflects light. The result is a dulled appearance where dark contrast is severely limited.
You don’t need to worry about your .91ct G VS2 as this diamond is eye-clean and clouds are not a concern with a VS2 clarity grade.
An indented natural is is an unfaceted/unpolished part of the original natural shape of the diamond and are usually found on the girdle. This is an external blemish and does not affect how the diamond will reflect light or it’s brilliance. Your .91ct G VS2 is a gorgeous stone and I fully recommend it.
Please let me know if you have any further questions!
Best,
Liz
