Hi Liz,
First off thanks so much! I have learned so much from your site I feel like I might actually be making an informed decision. I can probably get away with an H to J color without anyone really noticing and get much better value. Does this dogma hold true if I plan on mounting a round diamond to a shank that has blue sapphires? I’m looking for a diamond engagement ring with sapphire accents. Does this new color affect my color consideration one way or the other? My diamond budget is between $6,500 to $8,000.
Thanks,
Will

Hi Will,
The blue color in the sapphires will help to mask the yellow warmth found in a J or lower color. So, I would say you are perfectly safe going with ‘J’ or higher.
What carat weight are you looking for? I’ll be happy to provide some recommendations.
Kind Regards,
Liz

Hi Liz,
I am looking for a round diamond that is at least 7mm across to be set in white gold with sapphires on the shank. I really want it to be eye-clean and to sparkle as much as possible.
Here are two that I was hoping you could look at:

https://www.onlinediamondbuyingadvice.com/diamonds/R126-AT4HJS/
The second one is just a little under the target diameter. If neither of these are any good could you please make a recommendation in the same size and price range?
Thanks,
Will

Hi Will,
I recommend the 1.26ct J VS1: https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/R126-AT4HJS
Great light performance, super clean clarity, great size, and no fluorescence.
Best,
Liz

Liz,
I ended up going with that diamond! The ring is being made now and I should have it in a week or 2. I will let you know how it turned out.
Thanks for your help.
Will
