Brian Gavin Blue Fluorescent Diamond Collection – Save Cash and Buy Big!
Q: Hi Liz, I’m looking for a round hearts and arrows or ideal cut diamond, G or H color, VS1 or VS2 clarity, and about .9 carats for a price range of around $5000. With Brian Gavin’s diamonds, what are your thoughts on a Brian Gavin blue fluorescent diamond?
Do you have any different specifications in regards to color or clarity for Brian Gavin Blue fluorescent diamonds? For example, can they be more of an I, J, or K color and look the same as higher color grade diamonds due to the fluorescence? Does the fluorescence also affect clarity like an SI1 in a positive way?
Thank you.
Noah
A: Hi Noah, I am a bit biased towards Brian Gavin’s diamonds, I have to say. Brian’s diamonds and craftsmanship are impeccable. I think the Brian Gavin blue fluorescent diamond collection is a great way to get a hearts and arrows diamond at a great price. Diamond fluorescence isn’t for everyone, but it is a great way to save extra cash while still getting a brilliantly cut super-ideal diamond. 😉
Yes, you can absolutely get away with a lower color grade with a blue fluorescent diamond. The yellow tones are cancelled out by the natural blue fluorescence so it is nice combo. Clarity isn’t an issue for either case. All of BGD are eye-clean anyway as they are handpicked by his team.

Q: HiLiz, thanks for the quick response. I was thinking between these two Brian Gavin blue fluorescent diamonds:
Besides the price and size is there any preference with color between the two, will the K look worse than the I? Also is their any noticeable size difference between the two?
Thank you,
Noah
A: Hey Noah, If you had both diamonds side by side then you would be able to see a slight tonal difference and then be able to say, “yes, I can see that the K is a tinge more yellow”. BUT, without having them side by side you will not be able to tell and since they are both blue fluorescent diamonds, the blue cancels out the yellow to a great degree anyway.
In terms of size difference, get out a ruler and look at what 6.46mm vs. 6.21mm looks like. The difference is only .2mm, which is very very small! Again, if you had both diamonds side by side, you would be able to ever so slightly say, “yes I can see that the “K” diamond is slightly bigger”. BUT, without them side by side they would generally appear to be the same size.
I think you’ve got two very nice diamonds to choose from and if you are looking to shave off some cash, you would do no wrong with the .906ct. 🙂
Either one is great. Let me know if you have any questions.
Kind Regards,
Liz
Q: Thanks Liz. I decided on the 1.024ct K VS1 so I am waiting for it to arrive. Thanks for all your help! You have been great!
