Looking For .9ct – 1.25ct In Solitaire Setting For Around $6K

Q:

Hi Liz,

I am looking a .9-1.25 carat round brilliant diamond ring. The ring setting is most likely going to be a simple solitaire Tiffany classic – like 6-prong ring. My budget is around 6k and I can up or down 1K if it is a much better value.

I am considering this ring: http://www.zoara.com/diamonds/p_round_ideal_cut_j_vs1#p=2403259

It seems to be a good value for 1.22 carats and the cut, polish, symmetry. I am a little worried about the lack of a magnified image. Zoara considers it Hearts & Arrows but the AGS report images makes the arrows look blurry. I am sure if it is just the bad image quality.

This also looked like a good option: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.008-j-si1-round-diamond-ags-104049675001

I am open to any other suggestions in my budget.

Hello Joe,

Thanks for letting me know your diamond budget. I think your Zoara diamond is a fantastic deal. Keep in mind, that this diamond may not be a true ‘hearts and arrows‘ diamond. However, don’t be put off by this. An AGS triple 0 ideal cut diamond (ideal light performance, polish and symmetry) is still representative of the top 1% of all diamonds in terms of cut precision. Hearts and arrows refers to ‘optical symmetry’ which has more to do with contrast in the diamond – not necessarily overall brilliance.

The 1.22ct J VS1 will be perfectly eye-clean and super brilliant. An excellent diamond and one that I would move fast on because it is one of the best deals on diamond rings that I’ve seen in awhile.

1.220ct J VS1

What a deal! This 1.220ct AGS triple 0 ideal cut diamond sold for only $6,066.00!

The Brian Gavin Diamond is superb. It is a ‘super-ideal’ hearts and arrows perfect diamond. However, you are getting a slightly smaller stone and also 2 clarity grades lower (but this diamond is eye-clean). So, either diamond is guaranteed to sparkle brilliantly and face-up nice and white. You really can’t go wrong with either one.

Here is another suitable diamond, graded triple excellent by GIA and also fits within AGS ideal cut grade boundaries. It’s a 1.14ct J VS1 for $5,993.00: http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-14-Carat-J-color-GIA-certified/D-Z1N73Y

Or, if you want to go for bragging rights, I found another triple excellent GIA (again within AGS ideal cut grade boundaries) that is a 1.02ct J IF (internally flawless) for $6,081.00: http://www.ritani.com/diamonds/round-diamond-1-02-Carat-J-color-GIA-certified/D-D1WH29

In my opinion, the Zoara diamond is the best deal and you will be very pleased with it. You get to maximize your carat weight while not compromising on cut, color or clarity.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Kind Regards,

Liz
