1.50 Carat Diamond Ring From BGD

Q:

Congratulations on your new web site. It has a very nice look and feel to it while retaining all the valuable information as before.

I am currently looking at buying a 1.30 – 1.50 carat diamond ring with H&A. I prefer H-I color and VS2 clarity for a simple 4 prong ring setting. My budget for the diamond is 11-13K. I have shortlisted a few options from BGD from what I have learnt from your site to practice. Would like to hear your thoughts and advise if there is any one that comes out well ahead of the others

Hello Girish,

Thank you very much for your kind words. I’m glad that you like the new site.

I’ve taken a look at your selection of diamonds and of course, they are both beautiful. However, if you are looking to get advice on the largest diamond for the best value then I would recommend the 1.496ct I VS2 for $12,792.00: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.496-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104075658033

Brian Gavin Diamond 1.496ct

This diamond gives you the largest carat weight, with premium super-ideal light performance and optical symmetry. The VS2 clarity grade is eye-clean with the grade making inclusion being a crystal under a kite facet, which I cannot see in the magnified HD video.

The other diamond is equally as beautiful, but if are willing to go up to $13K with the largest carat weight in mind, then this would be my recommendation.

Please let me know if you have any questions. 😉

Take care,

Liz

Q:

Hi Liz,

Thank you very much for your prompt input. The 1.496carat I VS2 was my first choice too and so is reassuring to have you pick the same one. If for budget reasons I do go with the 1.3carat I VS2 option from BGD would there be a significant visual size difference between the 1.496 and 1.3 options. The 1.496 is 7.3 mm across while the 1.3 is 7.0mm across. Would the 0.3mm difference make a large difference in the apparent size to a viewer?

By the way, I like the choice of font, font size and line spacing of your revamped website. Has a very uncluttered feel to it and makes for stress free reading. Overall, the site is much more slick and has a contemporary feel to it. And The Diamond Genie is a great tool for shortlisting diamonds both for selection as well as for educational purposes.

Thanks & B, Regards

Girish

Hello Girish,

You are very welcome. The face-up size difference between a 1.496ct and a 1.30ct is minimal. .3mm is not noticeable at all. You would still get the relative face-up size that you are looking for without having to spend the extra $$. I was going to offer you that as a 2nd suggestion just in case you wanted to save a little extra.

The 1.30ct I VS2: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/1.300-i-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104073209011 does have a small cloud (looks more like a small dark crystal) under the table facet. This will likely not be noticeable but I still have to make you aware that it ‘might’ be visible if you have very good eye-sight. The 1.496ct on the other hand is eye-clean.

In terms of light performance, both diamonds are on par with each other.

Thank you very much for your honest feedback – it is very helpful to know that the site is much easier to read and navigate. It took a tremendous effort (6 months!) but it is all worth it in the end.

In the meantime, if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best,

Liz

Q:

Hi Liz,

Thanks for endorsing my thoughts. Just want to make sure that both the options are similar in terms of cut performance. I don’t mind spending the additional $$ if the 1.496 carat has the better cut performance. I have gone ahead with the 1.496ct option as per your recommendation.

Thanks for all your help.

Best,

Girish
